Hi,
I'm from Brazil and my english isn't great, so i'm sorry for any misspelling.
I bought a HD 5770 in march of this year, it was great until a week ago, when games started crashing after a few minutes.
My first clue was the GPU temperature, I checked and it was 80°C at full load, so I removed the heatsink and re-applied the thermal compound.
Now the temperatures are 43°C idle and 105°C on FurMark.
I ran MSI Afterburner to see if theres anything odd, heres a screenshot:
The core clock keeps oscilating 850/600MHz, so does the fan speed 100/45%.
I tried different Catalyst versions, no results.
A regular HD 5770 get 7600 pts HDR/SM3.0 on 3DMark06, mine is getting 6100 pts at max.
CPU temperatures are fine, and I don't believe the PSU is the problem.
EDIT: Even when the temperature was 80°C, the core clocks and fan speed was oscilating.
If I buy a aftermarket cooler/thermal compound and solve the temperature issues, will it solve my problem? Are they related?
Any help will be apreciated
