I'm about to pull the trigger on a HD2600 XT GDDR3 card. I'm going to put it in my media center so gaming is not a requirement.

I currently have a 7800 GTX in my Vista x86 media center (I was running SLI in my gaming machine) and it's served me very well. I get no crashes and it's stable as hell. I decide to pick up an Asus silent 8600 GT a while back thinking it would be perfect for my needs when I move to HD movies....man was I wrong. I was instantly plagued by the nvlddmkm blue screen errors that some people have been getting.

I tried every driver under the sun and couldn't make it stop. I only got errors when I would try to fast forward through HD recordings, but it was extremely random because sometimes it would be right after I had started playback and other times it would be after viewing for around 30 minutes (I'm certain it wasn't heat issues). Several failed workarounds, a couple failed recordings, many hours of my time later and I was done. Best I could do was delay the blue screens for a couple of days. So I returned it and went back to my trusty 7800 GTX.

This experience has left me a little leery of nvidia's 8 series. I know not a lot of people own the 2600/2400 cards yet, but I was wondering if any who do or own a 2900 have had any of the problems that the nvidia 8 series cards have been having with Vista?

EDIT

Ok I took the plunge on a 2600 Pro. Hoping for a better experience

EDIT 2
Well I've been running the 2600pro for 5 days now and I'm pretty satisfied. No strange errors. I hope nvidia resolves their driver problems by the time I rebuild my gaming machine this winter. I can't wait for the 9 series.
