I want to know how do you tell whether the cooler is NOT the reference cooler when you buy a Sapphire 4870 1GB card? Is that the heatpipe?

Thanks!

I orderd a Sapphire 1GB card from Ewiz last week.

It came with the Heatpipe cooler with the black shroud.

I am kinda pissed, it won't fit my P5E VM HDMI, it blocks 4 SATA ports.

The 4870 is one of the shortest high end cards. 4850 is just slightly shorter I think while the 9800GTX to the GTX 280 are all longer at 10.5in.

I'd have the same problem as you if I decide to run crossfire. I say change the motherboard or change to a 4850 if you can return the card.

I am keeping the card. I am acquiring the parts for an i7 build.

I have the 920 chip, ordered 3x2GB of OCZ1600 gold, and am just waiting for the DFI motherboard to come in stock.
