Sapphire 4830 Failing

My Sapphire 4830 that I purchased 6 months ago is failing. A few days ago I heard the fan running hard but didn't think it was a big deal, but yesterday after rebooting the videocard just gives out and the comp freezes right after logging in to windows. I took off the case covers and saw that when I boot up the comp the red light on the card comes on. That light is labaled "over heat protect". Even after letting the comp sit off for an hour and booting up again, it always freezes right after logging in to windows. Safe mode (which doesn't seem to use the video card) works fine but is very limited. I have tried removing the dust that built up, but it doesn't change anything.

Anyway a few questions.

1) The video card is the problem right? It has the red light I mentioned above. Also once on boot up there were some fuzzy lines on the monitor.

2) I have an M2N68-VM motherboard. This is supposed to have 7050 geforce integrated graphics. I want to run my computer on that rather than the 4830: I tried disconnecting the PCI-E wire at the video card attachment and pluggin the monitor into my motherboards DVI slot, but it didn't work: monitor did not recognize any input. I guess the 4830 was still taking precedence. Do I have to completely physically remove it from the motherboard? If I do so, will my motherboard automatically take video precendence? Or is there some setting I can change to do this in Windows XP 64 safe mode?

Thanks

Also the fan is working fine right now, I can get into safe mode, but when I boot up in normal windows right after I log in the comp freezes tho the mouse can move. When I turn off/on the comp the red light on the video card lights up, but that light is off at all other times including now (in safe mode).

Sounds like your card is flaky. I'd just RMA it and not fight too much with it. If you pull the card, your onboard video should work.
