its clocked at 250/200 , i just found out its got 5ns memory, so from this, i'm getting that theres no use in overclocking the memory right? cuz it won't get ne faster than 200.... =(

Not necessarily. I got my brother-in-law a refurb 8500LE a year ago from Newegg with the same core/memory speeds (250/200), and it runs beautifully at 275/240. Just depends on your particular card.

A lot of the time, the ns rating is just a loose guideline. Brand makes a bigger difference in my experience, but to a certain extent 🙂 I would also look into getting some RAMsinks and searching around the Rage3D forum for a voltmodding guide so that you can give the memory more juice. For now, just overclock it and see how far it goes. Don't forget about the core too 😀

well, u see its samsung 5ns ram, and do i haf to increase my core as well? ah well maybe i'll try 290/275 (if i can go that high, otherwise i'll opt for more 😛 )

Most Sapphire 9100 128MB cards (250/200) with 5ns memory usually get up to at least 250MHz. So it?s good 5ns memory. In the hardware review of the Sapphire 9100 they got to 261 and SherEPunjab got
his 9100 memory to 270.

SherEPunjab ?

I did a lot of research, and ended up on purchasing a Sapphire Radeon 9100 128mb PCI card from Enet Marketing (OEM) . It is used in a Dell Dimension 2400 w/ATA 100 hd, 256mb DDR, 533mhz FSB, 2.6ghz CPU.

I have used the tweak guide found here, and Rage3D's overclocker to maximize it. I am currently running it at 290.25/270.00 with absolutely no problems, artifacts, etc. In fact, All the way up to this, i didn't even 'break in' the card. I have only stock cooling, and no h/w peformance mods at all. I am using the latest ATI Catalyst drivers, and original card bios. I feel pretty confident that I can take this even higher, but stuck to these values because it was the highest Mloot could achieve from what I read. I can probably slide it to 295/280 though with little problems because it has been a breeze this high.

Just cause it's 5ns doesn't mean it won't overclock. A lot of ram will run past it's rated speeds. You just have to try out and see. And no, you don't have to overclock the core also.

would "ATI TOOL" be a suitable program to o/c my card? and where can i get it? i used that rivatuner fer my 9800, but wanna try somethin different for my 9100 =)

Samsung makes some of the best mem for video cards, good find 🙂

ATI Tool is a great overclocking and artifact testing utility made by W1zzard, the guy who also cracked the BIOS-induced clock locks on 9700np and 9500p IIRC. You can get the latest version from the official page.
