If you buy a true SAP/ERP system the software vendor will assist you in building a server to run it or will sell you the server with the software. It all depends on the software package (and what OS it will run on), # of users, etc.

Get a SAP basis person to answer that for you. Every installation has different requirements. But from what I've seen they are generally large unix boxes - 8/16 way processor, 100 gigs of ram, external storage array, etc.

There is also numerous tiers to the application depending on what you are trying to do, what modules/packages you're running.

So here's my best guess...
Operating System: your favorite flavor of always up unix that can be supported
Processor: a lot
Hard Space: a lot
RAM: a whole lot
Video: not necessary
Network: 1000 Base-T, 3 NICs in each server - a primary and a backup and a management

Our SAP installation runs on a number (~30 total, including test/QA) of dual CPU Dell servers (typically PE 2650/2850s) and HP servers running Windows 2000 Advanced Server, most w/4GB of RAM and a lot of SAN space.

From what I've seen of SAP from the user/project/development side the rule of thumb is that if you have to ask about the system requirements, you need a faster syste. :p

Seriously, why not just phone SAP and ask? Hell, there might well even be an OSS note out there with some guidelines.
