Has anyone tried Sanyo's new eneloop batteries? They are supposed to work just as well in low drain devices as high drain ones, since they lose very little power over time.

I have a digicam that I use occasionally, and it is really anonying to keep finding the batteries inside have almost no charge left because they have been left there too long.

EDIT: Here is a link to Amazon

I've heard they're OK.

But they're expensive - something to do with having to be kept refrigerated during shipping/storage, otherwise they lose their charge.

I went and bought a set, no charger though. This is using my existing Maha C204.

These ones to last a lot longer than the current "Digital Concepts" branded 2000mAh NiMH ones I was using, but that just may be them being not that good to begin with.

Anyone else bought a set?

Just got mine two days ago. I bought the 4 AA + charger. Out of the package the cells each had 1.3 volts. I popped them in my digicam and it turned on. I'm happy. I'll test how well it does on standby. The charger is cheap.

I have a dozen Energizers Nimh and a few have lost the ability to hold any charge. I've only charged them less than 50 times and they're crap already. That's far from the 1000 cycle Energizer claims. That's the main reason I wanted to try a different brand even though Sanyo makes Energizers.

I did my first vacation with these, and they are indeed a lot better. On my power hungry Sharp VE-CG40, it still has the full icon after a week of shooting, about 150 pictures total, mostly without flash.

My older pack would not last 50 or so on a charge.

Sanyo makes the best batteries, I find the "they shipped already charged" as kind of a gimmick, but if they last longer then the next rechargeable then I'm all for them. Those stupid Energizer 2300's I bought from Best Buy don't last, 2300 is nothing if the battery is going to start going downhill after 6 months of charging. These Sanyo's are 2000? fine by me if they work :)
