Sanyo BP-1300 Drivers?

I installed a Sanyo BP-1300 CD-RW in an old Packard Bell Platinum 2220. It recognizes the drive as a Generic CRD-1300P. So it works as a CD-ROM drive, but not as a burner. Do I need drivers for this drive to work? I can't find them anywhere on the net. Or maybe a BIOS upgrade to recognize it as a burner? I'm not sure what this motherboard is tho, some generic thing PB stuck in.
