This is driving me mad. Until Sunday, Win2k and every piece of hardware worked flawlessly. Unfortunately there was some catastrophic event that destroyed that, and a reinstall was required...

Now, with the exact same drivers (and later), and all of the Win2k updates, for no reason that I can see often when there is hd-reading the mouse stutters, as does the sound card. I really need help with this.

KT7-RAID
Athlon 800
256 megs of RAM
TurtleBeach Santa Cruz
Radeon 8500
Creative Labs PC-DVD
Dual 30gig seagate drives -- RAID 0, UDMA 4
Win2K SP2
300W p/s

Any help would be fantastic, thanks.

Did do the former, and I don't see why moving the SC would work since it was in that slot before and worked perfectly before the reinstall. I'll try it anyway, though.

I'm afraid I don't even know what ghost is. :)

norton ghost is a backup utility. simplest way to describe it is a zip utility that zips partitions or discs. keep your os partition clean and small(2-4GB) and you can easily make ghost images that you can revert to if something goes horribly wrong. saves a lot of time if you like to reinstall your os. i'm paranoid so b4 i install sp2 i ghosted. then after it worked i ghosted again. now if i blow up the os i can revert to the image and pretty much be up to speed in a couple min. my w2k + offitce appz image compresses to about 600mb.

and yes santa cruz rocks!
