Santa Cruz sound sttuters at the slightest bit of activity.. any pointers?

So... basic system is a Tbird 1 gig on an MSI Pro2-a and I have a Turtle beach Santa Cruz sound card. Few weeks ago this problem popped up.. while I'm listening to some music.. any activity at all will cause the sound to stutter for half a second or so. And I mean ANY activity.. from closing AIM to opening a new IE window to even clicking on a hyperlink will cause this.

Has anyone encountered this in the past or have any general help for me? Thanks a million in advance just for reading this.

Have you upgraded to the latest VIA drivers? If the archives are still up you'll find a million complaints about the popping sound. Most of the users had SBLive's, see if the update helps.

What PCI cards are in the system? Are you using PCI slot 1? List your IRQ assignments. It sounds to me as if your sound card is sharing an IRQ with video.
