A friend of mine just installed a new Santa Cruz sound card. He made sure to switch off the onboard sound option under the BIOS. The problem is whenever he starts his computer up, the new hardware installed note comes up at the bottom right and then shortly after his computer reboots. It doesn't even give him a chance to do anything. Any suggestions?

This is an off the wall guess that worked for me. Enable the onboard sound in the Bios, but disable it in Device manager to prevent IRQ/IO conflicts.

But you do sound like you are having some resource conflicts somewhere.
