Santa Cruz + ACS56 - how to "surround sound"

I'm having problems trying to get surround sound working on my ACS-56 + Santa Cruz combo under Win2K. How can I get this to work in all surround apps (right now, PowerDVD & Unreal Tournament). At the moment I have NO IDEA if surround is working because it seems like the same sounds are coming out of the rear speaker as the front speaker! Right now the SC Control Panel is set to "Digital 4.1" which means I'm using SPDIF for the front output and Analog output for the rear - which fits perfectly with my ACS56 system.

Anyone got any helpful suggestions, tips? Anything would be appreciated. Even a simple app which tests dolby digital functionality by playing a sound like "this is the rear channel" in ONLY the rear channel so I can be sure my setup is working...

Are you sure the ACS56 can use both digital and analog simultaneously? I think you have to settle for digital stereo or analog surround.

Apparently it can (according to 3D Sound Surge). Oh well, I'll try playing these DD 5.1 VOB trailers in analog mode and seeing what happens.

Any more ideas? Basically if you are using a 4.1 speaker sound system with the Santa Cruz I'd love to hear from you. ;)

If anyone else is using a 4.1 system with the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz... let me know if you know for sure that 4-point "surround" is working.

On an aside, if anyone has some sort of Dolby Digital "test" file which plays sounds independently in each of the 5.1 channels, it would be great to see if PowerDVD is the part at fault here.

I got hold of a dts trailer ("The Digital Experience") and when I saw that in a theatre I remember the sound panning from rear to front when the word "The" flew onto the screeen (and other letters). At home, on PowerDVD 3.0 set to 4-speaker mode, I didn't experience the same effect so I'm wondering whats going on.
