Sure I've played on them or seen other people's. Sh|t I have a box of seven of them behind me. None of them work and they're all 486's and P 233's and crap. 😛 However, I got a little early christmahanakwanzas gift from the guys at work.

I got a hefty leather carrying case with loads of pockets and compartments, too. It doesn't belong to me, but nobody's using it and we have craploads of them around (we sell loads of Toughbooks all the time). So I get one to use indefinitely for myself. 😀 😀 😀

err.... wait a second. This thing's a 2.2GHz and it's got larger than 14" display. But the model is CF-50. 😕 Then again, we *do* mostly get specialized products for Uncle Sam. Maybe this is one of those dealiebobs. Oh well. I don't care. 😛
 
Congrats, Nik. That's a nice gift for you to use indefinately while you're employed there.

However, there can be a hidden message at times when employers give you laptops - they hope that you'll take it home and do some more work on it for the company in the evenings. 😉

we also issue the panasonic toughbooks here in korea.

i guess its kind of a standard now.

Actually, I don't mind. I love doing what I'm doing. It's not really work. It's like getting to play with big play toys and getting paid for it. 😀 I usually email myself my projects and work on them at home anyway. In any case, it's going to make working at home much easier. Now I just have to enable remote login and I can sit at home in my PJs all day! 😛
 
What are you, a contractor or somin? Does heavy machinery fall next to you quite often? Why would they get you a miltiary grade machine? Oh BTW gotta ask you a question abou it, is it water proof? Use it while in the pool?

I work primarily with the military in supplying and servicing technology needs. We primarily work on GSA. 🙂 Tuesday, I helped the company VP of Ops (yes, we are all grunts -even the owner comes in and helps out) load a $200,000 order of toughbooks for one of the local guard stations. 😀 w0ot
 
Yup. I dropped it accidentally on the way home :laugh: Just from hip height, but it was fine. 🙂 My boss says that he dropped his off the counter at his house, which is probably 4 feet or so and he still uses it every day. :Q 😀
