Dunno what's available for the clip, but there's rockbox themes with ginormous fonts. Maybe you can find a theme you like better.

Thanks, this is the step that I was missing when I messed with it for a few minutes the other day. I just installed it and it was quick and easy.

FWIW, there is a newer version of Sandisk firmware available for the Clip+, 2.18.

I guess the Rockbox wiki pages are out of date.

Edit/removed: Whoops. I should learn to read better. The links to the V1 and V2 firmware was for the Clip and not the Clip+.

As lxskllr mentioned, there are a bunch of themes with varying font sizes. You can add them during the flashing process with the automated tool.

Thanks, I can still read what's on the display but I will explore the themes. I have an eye condition that makes getting bifocals that can consistently correct well for close work difficult. Fortunately, most days I can still see pretty clearly up close with my glasses off.

Grrr.. Forgot that the Clip+ doesn't do ExFAT.

Spent a bunch of time copying files to a 64GB uSD card and now I have to reformat to FAT32 and copy all the files again.

And why the heck doesn't modern Windows support formatting large volumes as FAT32?!

I chose the Clip+ because of a few things.

1. Cost. ~$26 for the 4GB unit + ~$25 for 64GB uSD = cheap 68GB player.

2. Screen + hard buttons. I like hard buttons so I don't have to look at the screen if I don't want to. But I also like a screen so I can easily choose albums and playlists.

3. Versatility. Rockbox has played everything I've thrown at it. I'm sure there's some format that it won't play but the list must be pretty short.

Found a refurb on Amazon for $20, clip+ 4gb, might arrive today according to tracking.

Ipod is a non starter, I want a flexible player, not something locking me into what they want me to use.
