Getting ready to make some atm, my wife swears by this stuff the few times she does drink.

I keep telling her the few times she's had good Sangria there is brandy in it.

Thoughts or what do you enjoy ?

Classic Spanish sangria recipe on allrecipes.com. Trust me when I say you will find no equal. Do yourself a favor and make it with the blackberry merlot.

Had at wedding once... I LOVED it. It was essentially punch/juice with alcohol.

That was course one. Another sangria later, I then got a glass of white wine, a rum and coke, and called it a day. Barely made it to my seat. What a waste of an open bar.

This is a version I came up with for parties. It's like a punch/sangria hybrid and always gets raves:

1 bottle dry red wine

1/3 - 1/2 cup sugar (to taste- you can also use agave syrup if you have it)

1/2 cup brandy

1/2 cup Cointreau

1/2 cup Absolute Citron

1 lemon, sliced

1 orange, sliced

1 lime, sliced

1 pear, diced

2 peaches, peeled, pitted and sliced

1 pint of sliced strawberries

1 bottle of 7-Up

Why don't you start off with a Sangria than Red Dry wine and a ton of sugar???

when I'm feeling lazy, I just do 2 bags of frozen mixed berries, 1 bottle of whatever wine I have laying around, 1/4 cup sugar, and a splash of club soda.

mix and let sit overnight.

for white sangria, instead of the mixed berries I'll do one bag of frozen sliced peaches and another bag of frozen mangoes. top with a couple raspberries in each glass.

Is everything frozen to avoid watering down the sangria, for the texture, or because it's faster than fresh fruit?

it's much, much, much faster than having to wash/peel/cut fruit and it eliminates the need for ice. frozen fruit should also be more fresh than supermarket fruit if you're buying it off-season... at least for my lazy ass, frozen fruit turns sangria into something I'll do on a random Wednesday night rather than something I'd only make on special occasions/parties since it's something I always have in the freezer for my breakfast smoothies anyways.

of course, it varies from season to season. in the winter, I'll use frozen exclusively unless I need oranges/lemons. in the summer, I'll use fresh if it's in-season (eg: when my mom suddenly finds herself with 20 lbs of strawberries in her garden and is running out of pies to put them in)

Sangria is the only reason I have brandy in my booze cabinet. Bottle of red wine, cup of brandy, and then whatever fruit sounds good.
