Sandybridge CPU Temperatures

Hey all,

I recently built a new machine (with a lot of help from this site), and I have a question about the temperature. My bios tells me that the mobo is running at under 30 C, but the CPU is up at 50 C. Is this temperature too high, or does it sound about normal? I'm asking because I had the new hardware installed in my old Coolermaster case until I switched it to my new Antec 300, recently, and I think that in the old case the temp was around 30 C. Here're my specs:

Sandybridge i5-2500K (I'm using the CPU's GPU capability, for now...)
ASUS P8H67-M Pro
Antec 300
All stock fans, including for the CPU
2 x 4G Corsair RAM

Thanks for all of your help in building my machines!

Well i have the same CPU and used the stock heat sink for a while, I averaged those temps too and at loads it was 80+. What i can tell you is that once I replaced the heat sink (for a CM 212) I noticed that the thermal paste was not properly spread and was very thick, there was even spots of it were there was no paste at all, maybe something similar is occurring to you.

Hope this helps
