Sandy Bridge system won't BOOT

I put together a sandy bridge and that has been working fine. I got a new graphics card and heatsink, installed it, now the computer will start for a second, then go out.. Then this repeats forever and forever.

If I mess with the switch in the back of my power system, I can get the system to come on and stay on but nothing ever happens, no boot.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like a short, to be honest. Does your motherboard have error code LED? If so, check the error code.

But if it is coming on for literally an instant, and then shuts off straight away, then the issue sounds like there is a short. I know when I dropped a drip of water on my board it would do this.

Could also be bad power.

Try different RAM to rule that out (just 1 stick in 1 slot) and move on from there. Typically if RAM has an issue, power will stay on though.

Please list all your hardware:

CPU
Motheboard
RAM
Video Card
Power supply.

I can't find any information on the error codes, but I do see red, yellow, greenish yellow, yellow LEDs on the board. It usually flashed those when it boots, now it's just stuck like that.

Clear the bios cmos first.
Next I would remove the new graphics card to see if it boots.

Just tried my old card and it's doing the same thing. Like it's try to start up, then g out. Then keep trying to come on, but never fully come on.

If I set the switch in the back of the power supply it'll come on and stay on but nothing ever happenes.

Card may not be properly seated - I have seen that before. Take your motherboard out of the case, and try it on your desk (card always seats properly out of case).

I had this exact problem on an MM H2G0 - cards just never seated properly.

With a Raidmax PSU, it's entirely possible that you don't have enough power to run the system...Raidmax power supplies are generally junk...However, I second CFP's suggestion of taking the board and components OUT of the case and trying to boot with the board sitting on a non-conductive surface...motherboard box works, or some other cardboard item.

Double-check all your power connectors to the motherboard. I've seen exactly this sort of thing happen when either connector is just slightly loose. Take them out and re-plug them and make sure they're both in all the way. If not that, then try taking the board out as others suggested. Always try the simple stuff first.
