Sandy Bridge Intel chipset

I have a new build using an ASUS P8P67 Deluxe MOBO which has 4 SATA 6GB/s ports (2 Marvell & 2 Intel). If I don't plan to use more than these, I should be unaffected by the SATA 3GB/s ports failure issues, correct? Currently, I have my optical drive connected to a Marvell port, and my 2 hard drives connected to the Intel ports. I am still in the process of installing Windows XP with the required Intel RST drivers. I think I'm fine if I don't use the 3Gb/s ports. 😕

For some reason, my manual says the Marvel ports can't work with Optical drive, just HDs/SSDs. But like you said, you shouldn't be affected by this flaw if you never use the 3Gb ports.
