My mother board is a DFI LAN Party 250 Gb, based on the nForce 3 250 Gb chipset. I ran Sandra Sisoft, whatever with SP2 and it kept telling me intermittently my CPU fan was failing. I opened the machine up, it looked fine to me, spinning happily and keeping everything cool. It would also tell me my chasis fan was not working or not hooked up, which is fine because it is hooked directly into the PSU (it's an older fan).

I am not overclocking, I have the settings in the BIOS set to vary the CPU fan speed depending on the temp. Should I be concerned, or are there issues between this utility and the board that cannot be resolved. The funny thing is you can run multiple tests and sometimes it will give the fan warning, sometimes not.

Just wondering.

This warning can be ignored. It is not very "intelligent." If you have a fan that is spinning less than 2500 RPM or so, it will give you the fan failing message.
