Finally got my system upgraded-

PIII700 @ 933
Creative CLA2 64MB, not overclocked, Fast Traxx drivers 6.34
Creative SB Live X-Gamer 5.1
Windows ME
MSI 6309 motherboard with bios 1.6 and VIA 4 in 1 version 4.25 drivers
128 Crucial CAS2 PC133 ram

I get the following from Sandra:

CPU benchmark:
CPU Dhrystone: 2521 mips
FPU Whetstone: 1249 mips

Memory Benchmark:
CPU: 358 mb/s
FPU: 405 mb/s

Also Quake Arena III, 1.17 with sound on, 1024x768, high quality settings:

Time demo of demo 001: 84 fps

I was just wondering if these are good scores or is there a need for tweaking. I read from the forums that the VIA might not do the best job with memory. Is Sandra accurate or should I use different benchmarks?

Thanks.

#`s look good to me... But if the game play is good to you that is what matters... Do you play UT if so try it at 1024X768 32bit or 1280X1024 32bit and see what it will do???

Your score look fine to me, too. They are right about where I thought they would be compared to my old system (P3 650@807MHz, 128MB Crucial PC133 SDRAM, TNT2 Ultra Vid, Monster Sound MX300, Win98 2nd, etc.) Here are the results for that system.

Sandra 2000:
CPU benchmark:
CPU Dhrystone: 2168 mips
FPU Whetstone: 1078 mips

Memory Benchmark:
CPU: 307 mb/s
FPU: 341 mb/s

3DMark2000:
1024*768*16 = 3090

Hope this helps.

Renob,

That sure is a powerful rig! The power supply too!

I am getting a new 1.1GHz/GeForce2 Ultra/etc and I will repost my score.

That is a little low for your system. I get around 7800 to 7900 on the default test.

Sandra 2000:
P3-700@784, 128MB:
CPU: 2128/1053
Mem: 278/298
Multimedia: 2472/3292

P3-700@868, 128MB:
CPU: 2356/1166
Mem: 312/339
Multimedia: 2738/3644

Sandra 2001:
P3-700, 256MB PC100:
CPU: 1899/946
RAM: 268/297
MM: 3810/4667

I don't have the RAM to push farther. Will try 933 when I get the Kingston PC133 from Outpost. BTW, this is double my Cel266@400 score--very nice. My FPS in games, however, more than doubled, tripling in Counterstrike. I can't believe this is running stable with a retail HSF at 124MHz FSB with no case fans and the case side off--unbelievable. And this is after 8hrs of P95 + RC5 + SETI running at once!

Sweet rig, Renob.

Edit: Specified Sandra 2000, added 2001 scores.

Bartman- I played a practice session with time demo on( Ice Station Zeto ) with 10 bots, 1024x768, details set to high and got an average of 64 fps. Are there other ways to demo UT?

I should have stated that I get the scores with my Leadtek GeForce 2 GTS 32MB, not the Voodoo 5 I have in there right now.

CMA, you're gonna have fun. Just added the big Taisol CGK742092, and up and flying at 1184MHz. BTW, these are Sandra 2001 scores, 2000 is higher:

CPU: 3325/1626
Memory: 620/527

Took 3 tries to do a good Loctite job.

Just Ran 3Dmark2000 : 8305

Stability test OK CPU temps read 40c during test plus 3dMark.

Renob- I think you can try enabling fast writes in BIOS by DISabling Enhance Chip performance (it boosted by score by 500 points). Are you OC'd on the GeForce? I found that seems to help a lot too.

cmaMath,

Nice system. What kind of RAM do you have? I thought your Sandra scores would be higher. One thing that would make your system even more impressive would be round ATA100 cables.

Thanks for checking out my the web site.

I am not sure what brand the RAM is. My last computer had Crucial PC133 (CAS 3). The only thing that I know about the memory is that it is 256MB of PC133(7.5ns). I will check my documentation. Hypersonic did a wonderful job of sending all information on the system!

Round ATA100 cables? What would be the benefit? Better circulation of air and therefore LOWER temperature?

So far, I am VERY pleased with it.

Here is a bigger picture:
Big Pic!
