I was walking around in Best Buy earlier the day and saw SanDisk's CompactFlash type I/II reader and writer for USB2.0 (model SDDR-91, images and details here). Looks good. But I wanted to be sure of some things before plunking down $20 + tax for it. Does anyone have this? What's your experience with it? And the question that'll help me decide: Does it work well with IBM MicroDrives?

I dont think that the single card reader is worth it really. i have th pny usb 2.0 6 in 1 card reader and its great. USB 1.1 sucks a$$ and is slow as a mother. You are better of getting like an 8 in 1 card reader...maybe you could be slick and try to find some deals on the net somewhere. Thats my suggestion anyway....i wouldnt go back to usb 1.1 any day. Oh yeah and it does work with microdrives...but just make sure on the manufacturer's site for different ones.

In the case of flash medias, the notion of money well spent is hardly something that would apply to me. It may be a good deal to get a X-in-1 media reader/writer but you also forget that I don't intend nor do I see myself using any other medias. I do not have any other devices nor do I know anyone else locally using a different media. And if there is nobody around to use a different media, there is no need to get a multi-format media reader/writer. That alone can save me some money that I can use towards other things that may be of more use.

In other words, no sense in getting a X-in-1 reader/writer if I don't have any other devices using a different media.

As for the attempted answer at my specific question, their web site does not inform me of any compatibility with IBM MicroDrives. That's why asked here. I could ask them directly. But who knows how long it'll take to get an answer with the July 4th weekend just around the corner.

Question is still unanswered. Anyone know? Or anyone with opinions of SanDisk's products? The MicroDrive question is top priority and would like to have that answered so I can contemplate on getting it the next time I drop by.

I have a microdrive and it works fine. It's 1GB so its still not super fast but as long as the reader is CF type II compatible then it can read it. Sorry i didnt state that before.
