Wow! That's a TB for $177. Amazing. Even with the relatively low endurance TLC in this drive endurance is really a non issue due to the capacity of the drive. We're just about at the point where these things are cheap enough for media storage.
Thanks for posting.

Real world performance of this SSD isn't that stellar in certain situations.

Still good value for the price but not anywhere close to the league of Samsung 850 EVO 1TB in performance.

I bought one for my dad. At his dollar of course. :D

But haven't bought one for myself. I'm waiting for the 850 Evo/Pro 1TB or 2TB. I'll probably buy around the same time next year. If I can get 1TB Pro for under 250 that would be great. Or 2TB Evo for under 300. Unlikely for the 2TB pro though.

I was thinking this drive should last for a bit and let me reinstall most of the games that I have backed up on my NAS. Now the drive is at 66% capacity. :p

Next year Sandisk says they are releasing 6TB and 8TB SSDs. Wouldn't be surprised a 2TB SSD by next year will be the same price as a 1TB this year.

True, over the years I've noticed that in about 12-15 months you get double the size for a similar price. The great 960-1TB drives though are still relatively expensive.

Sandisk Extreme Pro 960GB = $330
Samsung 850 EVO 1TB = $350
Crucial BX100 1TB = $400
Samsung 850 Pro 1TB = $422

It would be nice to replace all mechanical storage with SSDs and use M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 for the OS but it's hard for SSDs to compete when 5-8TB external mechanical drives which are good enough for media storage & sell for $130-200. Imagine if next gen consoles have a marketing push for 4K, we could be looking at 100GB+ game installs in 2019.

I am surprised we haven't seen more offerings with Hybrid SSHD drives. Maybe with Western Digital's acquisition of SandDisk, we might see some more offerings there.
