Sandisk or Crucial

Hey guys, I can't decide on which drive to get?,, I am a little sketchy about the Evo's. I can't decide to get the Sandisk Ultra II or the Crucial BX100?

Thanks Guys

sandisk ssd plus
bx100 (or any SM2246 based drive for that matter)
850evo

Those are all fine ssds.

I own Intel, Corsair, Crucial and Samsung and all have performed well. Haven't had more than a few years with them but no issues so far. Like any electronic component, you could get a lemon regardless of which brand you get. Have a solid backup process and you'll be fine with any of the top tier SSDs.

I hope it's been fixed, but ever since that fiasco last year with sneaking in that batch of lower quality controllers into their drives without telling anyone, I have sworn off all sandisk products.

And low & behold, right after the above situation became public, I had a sandisk flash drive go bad, so I'm not too keen on their stuff now 🙁

However, I bought an ADATA Premier mid-2015 and it has been running like a champ since day one, and was a bit less $$ than comparable drives at the time......

And my 4 year-old OCZ Vertex 3 is STILL running well too 🙂

I believe you are thinking of kingston. I am unable to find any mention of sandisk getting caught doing the controller switcharoo.

And it was a NAND switch (from Toshiba Toggle NAND to Micron Asynchronous), not a controller switch. LOL. That said, I have 8 V300's in my ESX box, because they're still going to be better than platters, and they were silly cheap. I'd still go for Crucial, in any case.

Samsung is all I buy too. Nothing wrong with them.

Yeah, no. So far the 850 seems good along with the other "50" models. They did manage to nuke many 950s last year with a bad firmware update. I'm still gunshy after the 840 evo insanity.

Yup, Kingston's on my short S-List after that move. It wouldn't have been so bad if they hadn't tried to justify it either. At least Crucial labelled their abortion of a SSD to BX200 so that I can avoid it. BX100 is still one of my favs

I'm avoiding Samsung at this point, having said that my Crucial M500 is a dog... but at least it works. If I were to pick a Crucial drive, I'd go with the MX200, otherwise I'd go with Intel.
