Sandisk Launches Sandisk Extreme Pro USB 3.0 Flash Drive

yeah, if i'm not mistaken sandisk usually uses their previous gen SSD controller chips in their USB flash drives. Only difference is the usb chip and limited nand channels

On the one hand the speed appeals to the geek in me OTOH something that costs $200 and routinely gets lost...

Awesome speed but it's like graphics cards in a sense. I got a PNY USB 3 128gb flash drive for $49.99. Brand new. Read is routinely measured around 160-170 and write around 140. Fast enough for most needs I think plus the fact I could buy 4 for the same price and have 4x the storage.

Random or sequential? Sandisk has had a monopoly on small file performance, lately.

It looks pretty cool, but I think the cost is too high, for what it is. The Extreme USB 3.0 drives only very recently came down to decent prices.

Yeah, I really hope they make a 64GB/32GB model for the Pro version and make it affordable for everyone. It's just too expensive atm and it makes more sense to buy an SSD than a USB 3.0 flash drive.
