As Topic title and summary suggest this is concerning an installation error in WinXP, where the xD Storage Device is listed as a Generic Massive Storage Device... and will not work properly as such.
Back about a year or two ago, I knew of a way to disable the automatic CAB file search for new devices and be able to select a specific device driver. I checked out the Sandisk website (www.sandisk.com) and under the installation procedure I'm told that there are no additional drivers needed. I've done just about everything I know to get this f'n thing to work. Can someone please provide some assistance?
Also, this is not my machine, it's my fathers. Here's a bit of what I do know about it:
USB 2.0 Compliant xD Device - Sandisk
USB 2.0 PCI Card - VIA Chipset
AMD Athlon Classic 1GHz
512MB PC-133
I've done a pretty comprehensive search on the forums here and came up short in all directions, making me feel a tad incompetant. But please, if you can assist me, I'd really appreciate it.
