SanDisk Extreme II wake up delay

dito

Junior Member
Hi,

I used to have a Adata S511 120Gb on my macbook pro 13" (early 2011).
It worked great and I never had problems with it (besides the lack of space).
So I bought a SanDisk Extreme II 480Gb. I did a clean install of Mac OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 and I noticed that when the computer enters sleep mode, it takes 10-30 seconds to wake up. Until then, all I can do is move the courser around. Only after that period I can type my login password.
So I've read that it's not a particular case and it happens to most (if not all) users with this SSD.

Is there any solution for this?
Are there other users with the same problem here?
What can I do about this? (I've already e-mailed SanDisk about this issue)

Thanks 🙂

Sounds like it may be a firmware issue directly related to either that controller in that SSD or the drive / model from Sandisk.

You can try having Mac OS X never put the hard drive to sleep but this will affect your power savings mode. You can try some BIOS settings and last of all try flashing an updated firmware to the drive if it exists.

NOte this is conjecture on my part, I just ordered a new Clevo Notebook (Win 7 ) + wanted that exact drive but was told it is not compatible. I wonder if that could be the case here also with Apple??

Thanks guys!
Sandisk eventually replied and said that the issue relied on firmware and that they were investigating it with Apple since it's a Mavericks OS only problem.
I ended up returning the drive and now I'm looking to see what drive to buy.
