Greetings, all. I was shopping at one of my local Wal Marts today and noticed that they have dropped the price of the Sandisk Cruzer Micro 8GB USB thumb drive from $50-something to $24.99 plus tax. The Cruzer Micro has a slide-out USB connector and no loose fitting cap to lose, and the units at my Wal Mart are the newer Readyboost-capable Cruzer Micros (in case anyone cares about Readyboost).

The new price does not appear to be a local/close-out price, so this deal may be available in all Wal Marts.

if walmart doesn't have it, Circuit City usually has it at about the smae price. They flip-flop their sale between the Kingston and Sandisk thumbdrives.

Of course, the 16GB Corsair at Newegg can't be beat if you don't mind a $25 rebate.

They are $24.99 in the Circuit City flyer this week and Radio Shack is selling them for the same price so you can get the same deal almost anywhere you happen to be.

Do these drives have a read-only switch? A computer at my university infected my flash drive today (again). Nothing that autorun turned off cannot stop, but still....

I wish more of these flash drives did. There was a reason for the write-protect switch on floppies.
