Just picked up one of these in Maryville, TN. $59.99, minus a 15% discount for "anything you can fit in this bag", which was hanging up at the entrance to the store. Their current ad mentions this bag and discount as well.

Shows OOS online, but was in stock at this particular store, I'd venture a guess that it's available in other B&M stores as well.

$80 at Amazon and $150+ at Newegg for the same drive right now.

Being a Saturday this may be the last day for this price (new ads / prices generally running Sunday - Saturday).

I bought three 32gb sandisk cruzer glides on black friday from radio shack.

The bad news is they all failed in a week. The good news is that sandisk tech support is top notch, and they sent me a prepaid shipping label. Sent them back, and didn't hear from them for 2 weeks. I called and they said they didn't have any in stock. I asked for anything thumb drives with 32gb, and they offered me the sandisk ultra backup drives. They are on the way.

I'd hate to think how long that would take to fill up using USB 2.0.

I';d estimate that it is actually 120GB of usable space. At 20MB/sec write speeds it would be exactly 100 minutes to fill it up. Not too bad all things considered. It is removable media.

I checked Sandisk's website and they make no mention of transfer speeds, which means it's slow. 🙂

Press release:
http://www.sandisk.com/about-sandis...innest-and-highest-capacity-usb-flash-drives/
(notice that this press release tells you write speeds of their USB 3.0 Extreme Drive but nothing for the newly released Cruzer Glide)

Amazon's reviews confirm that the speed is anywhere from 2 to possibly 5-6 MB/sec write speed. And that would depend on the file size. Large numbers of small files will make this write on the lower end as far as speed.

Even that 5 star most helpful review says he transferred 8.53 GB on 38:26 which translates to 3.7 MB/sec

I am not threadcrapping, as this is a very good deal for the size of the drive. Just wanted to put it out there so there are no unrealistic expectations of write speed for this drive.

If you want a faster write speed drive of large capacity you will have to spend more money.

I am using vconsole.com 's USB flash drive tester, and writing to this device at around 6.1MB/sec. It estimates 5.5hours to write to the entire drive.

Note that writing groups of smaller files, will be slower.

Edit: I would have results for overall read/write speed, had Windows 7 not suddenly killed the process without warning or notification.

If you use this drive for incremental back ups then the transfer speed isn't as much of an issue.

Filled mine up w/ a copy of all my MP3 files (I have a decent size music collection). Great to have at work, play in the car, take on vacation. Was slow to fill up, but since I won't do that often, no problemo. Guess it depends what you need it for. I definitely won't be experimenting running an OS from it.

What is the read speeds like? Thinking about getting rid of the external HDD on my Wii for faster response times. It's to the point where a flash drive that reads at a puny 4.5/MBs is beating out my external at 30/MBs dramatically in loading because they are all random reads.

You can also apply a $25 off $75 coupon online ( if you get one) to this offer...just picked up the USB drive with 2-100 pack of photo paper for $70 shipped.

Ive got a $5 of $25 coupon that I will not be using expiring 1/5/13 that I will not be using instore only, if anyone wants it, PM ME.

Threw it into my laptop and ran ATTO, the lower 2/3 of the chart is consistently ~ 28 for read speeds.

(Write is less than 5 though, yuck, thankfully I will rarely write to it)

i hear you brother. some day, my friend, as soon as you connect the drive it will be full of wonderfully organized data. this waiting for information transport thing has got to stop.
