Awesome deal, I bought one a few weeks ago from Amazon for $103. I love it, small, just the right amount of storage, easy to use, good sound. FM Tuner surprised me too.

Personally, I think the Sandisk would make a better present, but I am biased since I got one for my gf and I've never used the Shuffle. The Sandisk player has a built-in FM tuner and LCD display, which in my book are big plusses over the Ipod Shuffle. Really, the only advantage I can see to the Ipod Shuffle is that you can load Itunes AAC songs onto it.

My roommate got the Shuffle I got the Sandisk, I liked the idea of having a display and the FM tuner, the Shuffle is basically a memory stick with basic control buttons on it. If you don't care about a display and want something thats a little longer and to me feels cheaper, go with the Ipod, I am not an Ipod fan so... I went with the Sandisk, I love mine.

Bought the 1 gb Sandisk over Xmas, great deal after a $30 rebate it washed out at $112.
Definitely wanted and like the display, plus it comes with a armband. Apple? another $30 please. Apple sucks you in with the Shuffle then introduces you to about $200 in add on accessories.

The Sandisk takes a little time to learn the control as it isn't very intuitive, but it is the way to go. I love mine
