sandforce 2500 power consumption

OS

Lifer
their website has an estimate for the 2500;

"Power Consumption: Typical: ~1.5W (est.)"

for reference, the 1500 as follows;

"Power Consumption: Typical: 900mW, Sleep/Slumber: 90mW"

so it looks like the newer controller/drives will be a little worse.

i know this is somewhat compulsive but particularly for those of us who want to put SSDs in thin and light notebooks it's important we are not unnecessarily heating up our computers and reducing battery life

What heat? I have experienced positive battery life gains with a crappy laptop and a small SSD because things are quicker. The laptop heatsink fan spins slower now and the palm area, which housed the standard hard drive underneath doesn't get hot and cause discomfort to my wrists. Less heat and more silence.

If I had an issue with power consumption, I'd rather carry an extra battery than deal with the shortfalls of no SSD. Different needs for everyone.
