Story

Who says we can't be reasonable?
The resolution includes a list of goods that would need review before being sent to Iraq -- mostly technological equipment such as telecommunications and information technology items.
Don't want Saddam hoarding XBoxes, do we?

There's nothing flammable here, unless you wanted to argue that we shouldn't be easing the sanctions at all.

Or maybe you think we should let Saddam hoard XBoxes because they suck.

Like it matters. Anything that gets sent into the country is going to be grabbed up by the Govt and none of it will actually get to the populace.

Provided they are set to go off upon delivery....;)

lol, I agree with Shinerburke on his post..doesn't matter what we were to send over there..Saddam would get anything useful and throw everything else out to his people...

Far from true. There are a lot of International relief agencies that have been dying to get into Iraq to give the populace medicine to treat diarhea and other easily curable.preventable diseases which have been killing millions of innocent Iraqi children. Saddam will not steal diarhea medicine from his populace.

The sanctions against Iraq, which have only made Saddam stronger and have caused death and suffering to over a million innocent Iraqis, are one of the reasons the US is hated so much by the Arab community.

We haven't been stopping relief agencies from going in there. We can't control what the charitable organizations like the Red Crescent do.

Ahhhh propaganda. Sadly those people only hear what the govt wants them to hear. We haven't caused a million + Iraqis to die and if you believe so then I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn.

If anyone has caused a million + Iraqis to die it's been Saddam. Much like Stalin he seems to enjoy in murdering his own people. Just ask the Kurds about his thrill in using mustard gas on them.

heh yes there is plenty
see

#1: Now saddam will start to build up his army again and invade Kuwait or kill even more kurds
#2: there is no garantee that this will result in saddam invading kuwait, in fact it is highly unlikely
#1: He did it once and he will do it again
#2: who knows, at least hundreds of people will die anymore as a direct result the sanctions
#1: they are not because of the sanctions but because saddam, he gets lots of money and doesnt feed his people, instead he builds palaces and mosks
#2: UN investigators filed a report they did where they directly said that the deaths were a result of the sanctions
#1: bla bla bla I'm right
#2: bla bla bla no I'm right
#1: bla bla bla bla no you are wrong and I'm right
#2: bla bla no you are wrong

and so on and on

Yes... but what about the XBox?

Actually I agree with shiner on this-I don't think it will really affect the average Iraqi. Nice gesture, though.
