San Diegons: Should I visit the Zoo or the Wild Animal Park?

I'm going to be in San Diego for one day and I'm thinking of arranging a group trip to either the Zoo or the Wild Animal Park. If you wanted to spend an entire day at one or the other, which would you choose and why?

Thanks

EDIT:

DOH! Added a poll. Thanks for the input.

wild animal park. wild animal park kills the zoo. and i highly recommend taking the wgasa bush line railway. in fact, its a must to go on it.

It's hard to choose one over the other, but I'd say that the Wild Animal Park is much more unique. The San Diego Zoo is a very, very nice zoo, but you've probably been to a nice zoo before. You probably haven't been to something like the Wild Animal Park, unless you've been to the Animal Kingdom in Florida, which is Disney's subpar knock off of it with a couple rides thrown in.

You may also want to keep the weather in mind, however, as the Wild Animal Park is quite inland and can get pretty hot. The Zoo is fairly close to the ocean, so it would be much nicer in the summer months.

does it have to be one of those two? Why not downtown, or the overrated gaslamp area, or la jolla shores, or point loma, or mission bay, etc etc....

well, if it has to be one of those two, WILD ANIMAL PARK.

Zoo. More to see at the zoo.

And you can see the PANDAS.

It's the World Famous San Diego Zoo. Not the World Famous San Diego Wild Animal Park.

So I just got back from the Wild Animal Park. It was pretty cool, but I think the Zoo would have been better.

Pros:
The train ride was pretty cool and the area was gorgeous.

Cons:
All the park really had to offer was bigger pens for its lions, elephants, giraffes, etc. I've already seen these animals alot and seeing them in larger enclosures was not more exciting.

Conclusion: If you want variety, go to the Zoo. If you want an African savannah experience with a few Asian animals thrown in, go to the Wild Animal Park.

I've been to both, and even done the photo safari at the wild animal park that costed me $150. I'd have to say that the Zoo is better. You don't really get to see much at the wild animal park. The photo safari wasn't really worth it. Basically there are like 15 different species of antelopes, gazelles, and goats. Not too exciting. The best thing at the photo safari was feeding the giraffes and hippos.
The interesting exotic animals, like carnivore cats are all extremely far away in a very large pen, so you don't get to see much.
Anyways, here's a pic I took there with my Panasonic FZ15 before I got my DSLR
