Ok, I hate the word foodie, couldn't resist using it. I hope someone else's blood boiled even reading it. That said, I'm going to be in San Diego for a week. What's new and different to eat in your fine city? North County included.

I'm looking for suggestions for anything from dives to fine dining. Would especially like a rec for a good brunch and fish tacos.

Last time out, I really, really enjoyed JSix in the gaslamp quarter. That was two years ago. Is the place still any good?

Also, anything that someone who likes to eat might enjoy, but will also satisfy very unadventurous palates? My inlaws aren't exactly eaters...

Thanks in advance.

Bonnie Jeans Soul Food Cafe, one of my favorite spots to eat in SD. The Fried Chicken with Honey Pecan Glaze is almost better then sex. As for Fish Tacos, and just Mexican food overall. Rana's Mexico City Cuisine cannot be topped IMHO. Their food's beyond awesome, and the owner and his family are super super super nice. If you Yelp either you can read 100+ reviews for each.

Bonnie Jeans is mostly unhealthy, fried southern dishes. The Fried Mac & Cheese balls are to die for. They put little pieces of Jalapeños in them. Not spicy but they have a small kick. ONe word of warning, it's not in the best of neighborhoods. Not an issue to me, I don't even find it bad, but people who aren't use to going to slightly ghetto areas might be a little scared lol. If they want something healthier Rana's is pretty healthy, they don't even use salt. Still lots of flavor.
