San Diego and AGP?

Hello all,

I've been wanting to upgrade to A64 for a while now, but pci-e kinda screwed up my plans. I have a 6800 ultra OC AGP card and don't really want to have to get a new pci-e card just so I can upgrade my cpu. I have my eye on the 3700+ San Diego core, but the list of 939 motherboards w/agp sockets is very short.

My question is: What would be the best motherboard to use with this chip? I will be overclocking and will also need the motherboard to be compatible with the chip out of the box (no bios flashing).

Also, is it a bad idea to stick with AGP? I love my video card, but am a little peeved that I can't use it with a nforce 4 board.

Any help here is greatly appreciated.

how ablot an msi k8n neo2, or anything nf3. also, my a8v deluxe is pretty good, but i wished i'd gotten nf3 or nf4. there isnt anything wrong, its not really any slower than pcie. it will force you to have to upgrade the mobo, but with that nice card, that wont happen for a long time.

You could always try selling the AGP card and getting a PCI-E one. That's what FS/FT is for.

I have a K8n Neo2 Platinum on a shelf, i'm gonna buy a SD core aswell. I would like to know if anyone has this combo working, and if they needed a bios update! If u have a good AGP videocard stick with it. That is what i'm doing. I have a X800XTPE, I won't be getting rid of it for a PCIE model. When the time comes and if ATI doesn't release a AGP model of the R520, then I might considering PCIE. Hmm about 2 years from now. that is how long my 9700pro lasted me before I needed to upgrade.

Screw the MSI Neo2 - get the Asus A8V Deluxe! Asus already has BIOS options for this motherboard to support the X2 (for when you're ready); meanwhile, MSI is having problems doing so and who knows what the future holds for the Neo2 in that regard (surprise, surprise, problems with the Neo2...it's nothing new - avoid that POS).

I actually have an asus nforce 2 mobo right now, and am very happy with it. I've heard people say that via is inferior to nforce, but have never actually used via myself. The A8V is probably at the top of my list right now. Does anyone know if the San Diego chips would work in a new A8V? I won't be able to bios flash cause i don't have access to another a64 cpu.

Go Away... I have seeen some reports of X2's operating @ xtremesystems on Neo2's.. I'm not concered if the BIOS is out for it yet, because the damn chip hasn't released yet...

I would rather have an nForce board than a VIA chipset anyday of the week...
