Hey everyone!

Just curious if anyone has used or seen anything about the Samtron 77v 17" monitor. My mom told me today that certain colors are starting to "look wrong"...from the phone conversation it sounds like blues look purple, reds look orange, etc... probably not the same colors swapping but you get the idea :) I haven't had a chance to make it out there to see if it is the actual monitor or video card (or her messing w/ the controls :) ), but I'm guessing it's probably the monitor. It's an OLD Magnavox 15" that she has been using for years.

I was looking at the Sams Club web page and they have this Samtron 77v for $99. I've looked everywhere I can think of (these forums, web and newsgroups) but I can't really fiind any reviews. It's my understanding that Samtron is a division of Samsung (anyone know if that is true)? I've used a couple of Samsung monitors in the past (currently have one running on my son's PC right now) and the quality has been pretty good. I wonder what this Samtron would be like? Anyone have any experience with Samtron or this model?

Thanks,
Tom

Samtron 77v = Budget monitor w/ a crummy 1 yr warranty. Spend an extra $30 and get a KDS.

Ack!! You said the 3 letter word! :) I've had nothing but bad experiences with KDS. My dad is on his 3rd replacement KDS monitor. Warranty replaced it twice and this last time they said that was it....they wouldn't replace it again. Apparently a lot of people have been pleased with their monitors but among his problems and my own personal experience with them I have yet to have any luck with them. I've always had a lot of luck with Viewsonic and Samsung, but they just aren't in the price range she is looking to stay in...which is < $150.

1 yr warranty if you buy from national retail stores,
3 yr warranty if you buy from resellers.

sometimes the equalivant Samsung model (Samsung is always 3 yr warranty) is even cheaper when there is rebate at national retail stores.
