Samsung's T9word

I recently got the Samsung SCH-R600 also called the Alltel Hue 2. So far it is a decent phone but I have one complaint and that's the T9 texting. I'm hoping there is a way to change this.

On other phones I have had to cycle through the possible words is to hit the 0 key. On this phone(and my GF's doubletake) you get a little popup menu and you have to go and select the word from there. I hate doing it that way and it takes longer than just cycling with the 0 key.

I don't know about your phone but all I can say is I hate T9 word (i.e. I type the letters for 'is' and I get '47' or type the letters for 'how' and i get 'gow'). I currently use it on my Samsung Convoy. I sorely miss having a keyboard.
