2ms response times and 1000:1 contrast ratios. Maybe I'll finally go LCD.

Just two problems, it only comes in 17 and 19" sizes, and it's not Vista ready, so it'll need thrown out if you plan to get Vista.

It's not HDCP-compliant, so you won't be able to watch protected Blu-Ray or HD-DVD content in HD using Vista. You can use Vista just fine as long as you don't want to do that.

No way dude! Watching Blu-Ray movies on some itsy bitsy lcd panel in my computer chair owns watching it on the 47" HD in my living room, kicked back in a plush La Z Boy!

Yeah, who is going to want to watch 1080 HD downscaled on their 19" monitors if they have a much bigger HDTV? Don't even worry about HDCP for desktop monitors.

don't worry about HDCP and Vista problems. we all know SOMEONE will crack it and figure out a way so all of us with non HDCP-compliant monitors can watch HD-DVD movies.

It's already been cracked by Germans with a device that costs like $300. However the provider of the needed semiconductors (Silicon Image) is threatening to cut them off but who knows. I'm sure there will be more devices and/or software cracks coming anyway.

What it does is very simple. It's what every HDCP monitor does. It just decodes the HDCP then reencodes it to regular DVI. So nothing is actually cracked per se, but the end result would be the same because everything is digital.

Also, I don't get the ms response time. I've not been able to tell the difference between 8 and 23, or whatever my apple is. I seem to remember it being 23.

What, exactly, would you be able to do in those miliseconds?

Well, fixt for your living room, but not mine. Anyway, you get the point, for most adults, their monitor is by far the smallest screen in their house. Even my bedroom tv is 32" and is preferable to watching movies on my computer.

this looks pretty nice. I could give a crap about HDCP as well... I was worried at first having just got my 2405 a few months ago then I thought about how much I watch movies on it currently which is never.

LCDs with low response times tend to have rubbish colour reproduction compared to those with high response times.
