Hello all,
Some of you might have already read our recent Samsung HHD story on Slashdot a few days ago but to whoever didn't get the chance here it is. Beside our interview with Andy Yang from Samsung the article includes a few nice pictures of the new prototype drive.

By the way we are going to have a follow up article on Samsung's SSD technology in about a week.

Enjoy,
Iddo

Interesting article, but since I've read that Vista is going to require 4G of ram, it is going to be some time before I consider Vista. And since these hybrids are only for Vista, and only for laptops, I can't see me buying one anytime soon.

Thanks QuiksilverX1.

As for numbers - I guess we shall all have to wait a bit - maybe closer to the end of the year or even very early next year.

Please remember that they will probably be going to laptops first where power consumption is more important than performance.

Since when does vista require 4 GB?
I've put beta versions on machines with 1GB, and it ran fine...for windows

If you don't use the aero interface, the requirements for Vista drop significantly.

However, if you do disable the aero interface, you've just negated the benefit to using Vista, and are better off staying with XP anyways.

I'm running Vista Ultimate 5477 on my system and it feels no different than WinXP in terms of speed. 4GB? Yeah, maybe with a 2GB flash drive for the boost technology.

I tried Vista, not impressed. It ran ok, but it obviously needs work. I don't see myself using it for about a year after release (when I upgrade again and have to reformat and start over anyway).
