I bought this monitor about 3 years ago:
http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-XL2270.../dp/B003Z5S2NY
Never had a problem with it. None. No dead pixels. Nothing. It's still kicking @$$ and taking names as I write this. Only negative is no HDMI so the versatility is reduced but its not a deal breaker. The monitor doesn't include built-in speakers anyway so what's the big deal? None for me.
I recently went looking for a new Samsung monitor for a second computer and I thought I would purchase something pretty much the same as I already own. But to my dismay, there is no longer a Samsung monitor sold that is as aesthetically pleasing as the XL 2270. My dad purchased a similar monitor for Samsung(21.5") but even it wasn't as nice as mine. There is a transparent "border of sorts" that only goes across the bottom and not the entire perimeter of the monitor.
The beauty of this monitor, for me personally, are the glowing touch-screen controls and the transparent clear borders around the entire perimeter of the monitor.
While some Samsung monitors still offer the touch-screen controls I could find no replacement with transparent borders. It breaks my heart when such a beautiful product goes the way of the dodo bird.
And to add insult to injury, Samsung has started putting red rings around the border of "some" of their models. A red border against a glossy black? Must be a "gamers" monitor as red and black are supposedly a cool color combination for some things. I think it fails here. *shudders* Okay then. I am sure somebody will find this aesthetically pleasing somewhere on the planet. It just isn't gonna be me.
Just my small personal rant.
