Going to Best Buy to make a purchase tomorrow, and I'm taking advantage of their current financing deal. I can get this LG or this Samsung. Whatcha guys think? They also have this Sony, but its contrast ratio is 2500:1 compared to the others which are around 20,000:1.

You sure you want to buy it at Bestbuy? Amazon.com has the better model, LN40A550 (The one you linked is LN40A530) for more than $100 cheaper at $1080, 23% off from original price. I believe they offer free White Glove Delivery too. http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-...&qid=1220362152&sr=1-2

The 42LG50 is $1125 on Amazon instead of $1400 at Bestbuy. http://www.amazon.com/LG-42LG5...&qid=1220362403&sr=1-1

As for the question, I personally like Samsung over LG, I think the two best brands are Samsung and Sony.

I have the 47LG50 and I like it so far.
Only drawback (a minor one for the price of the TV) is that there is some minor backlight bleeding at the top right and lower left edge.

As I said, it is minor and you wont notice it much during gaming / watching movies. Only when a screensaver or similar kicks in and you have a black screen.

Havent seen the samsung one in action though so cant really say much about that one.
