My current background with smart phones: NONE! I had no idea what root was or how to attempt this fix.. so if the previous sentence sounds like you, then I hope this will help!

Step 1: Root your phone, go here for a step by step instructions http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=739304

Step 2: Go to the app store, search for "rom manager" Make a backup for just in case. then install the the "clockworkmod" app from the rom manager.

Step 3: Go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782242 signup and download the zip file. Leave the file in zip format.

Step 4: Mount the usb drive on the pc, then drag the file onto vibrant gps zip file into the vibrant and place it in the main directory.

Step 5: Click "install ROM from SD Card" then search for your vibrant zip file.

Step 6: Install the file // Reboot and go outside!

The end.. I saw prior to this rom update mostly zero birds, now I can see 7+ in 10seconds. Holy awesome, nice breathe of fresh air.

Your miles may vary, but this has helped my phone, so be careful and good luck!

linked in the "leaked firmware" thread, already.

I sure as heck didnt know what to do with your link, until I investigated further into the site. I was just laying it out on paper vs just posting a link like you did below.

Looks like the GPS fix has been ripped out of the new firmware and made into an installable zip: http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=400533&d=1284410127

The link is nice and all but it shows nothing, and you had to signup to download the link, how/what you were suppose to do with the file was also confusing.

you should sign up for XDA no matter what! Tons of useful stuff on there. Check out the Android apps section. The Dev's release stuff there way before the market.

And my thread was more to discuss the new ROMs out. Its not a bad thing to have a separate thread for the GPS fix

I'm tired of all the false information getting spread around.

This is not a FIX for the damn GPS. Yes, you're seeing more locks, and you're seeing them faster. Turn off the wireless location option - you will not get a lock as fast. Yes, I know this is a purpose of AGPS (hence the name) but it's proving that we are not seeing an actual fix. Until the drivers change, we will continue to see shoddy use of GPS while moving, losing locks and being routed onto the wrong streets. I've tried every damn ROM that's out, and none of them fix it.
