Ugh.

With the Tab 3 10.1, you are looking at a 1280×800 display, dual-core processor, only 1GB of RAM, low-res cameras, and Android 4.2.2. With the Tab 3 8, you have an 8″1280×800 display, dual-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 5MP rear camera, and Android 4.2.2

At least, I feel vindicated buying the Note 8.

The Galaxy Tab line has always been low-end to mid-range. It's a line for Samsung to dump old crap into.

Hardly, the original Galaxy Tab 10.1 wasn't exactly low end. It sported the same Tegra 2 and 1GB of RAM that all the first gen HoneyComb tablets did, but was arguably the best looking and well built.

Samsung's spec sheets only say 'Dual Core' so what are they hiding? Are these Exynos 5 based? Seems unlikely if they're value products. Snapdragon S4s? Hard to make any kind of guess since Samsung currently uses Snapdragons, Tegras, Exynos, and soon Intels.

Samsung's latest tablets are mid range at best! If they want to be a top tier player they need 1920x1080 or similar resolution and a leading edge SoC to go with it -- 1280x800 isn't gonna do it...

They do have a 2560x1600 tablet with a dual core a15.

That's more Google's tablet that Samsung happens to manufacture.

So they have the tech, and the manufacturing capability, why isn't there a Samsung branded tablet with a 25x16 resolution screen and dual/quad A15?

If they want to play in the low end, they need to offer more than the Google Nexus line, and these don't*.

*Pending confirmation of what CPU model.

The processor is one the new Intel Atoms.

So what? The rest is shit. Besides, if the Atom is faster what real-world would it give...render webpages milliseconds faster?

Sounds like those bargain laptops from the past few years with i5s/no discrete gfx/768p screens.

Lol at the hardware buttons in portrait mode.

"Why do I keep hitting back key??????"

That resolution and no wacom/s-pen? Stupid.

How happy do you think Intel is that this important release for them is this POS. Intel dropped the ball with mobile and this isn't going to be the product to get them in the game.

With Intel's resources, if they wanted their parts in a high profile device, they could make it happen. With almost any manufacturer.

Intel was not in the business of selling silicon for normal profit margins so mobile presents a big problem for them. They will never see margins in mobile like they did on the desktop. But, they have little choice but to be in the game.

Intel focused so much on crushing AMD that they missed the opportunity to get into mobile early and gain dominance.

Very happy. Despite releasing mediocre tablets, Samsung is one of the leading Android tablet manufactures. I think their tablets are selling very well based on their name recognition. And Samsung tablets are usually sold in a lot more places than other tablets. So this is a big win for Intel.
