Hi guys

I have a samsung TV bought couple of years back in Dubai. For the past few months I have been facing issue with the speakers. Not clear sound and its kinda crackling noise along with any audio. Contacted the service center in Chennai, India and they said the cost for servicing is 5000 + component charge 1500 as its bought abroad. If had been bought in India, seems the service charge is only 1000. I feel the charge is too much just cos it was bought abroad. Can anyone give me model number of the original speaker part required for replacement. Or if any of you has any contacts of good service technicians in Chennai who can acquire and replace original speaker part.

TV Model no. : UA40C5000QR

Thanks in advance.

Your best bet is to disassemble the TV frame, take a speaker out and look for a model number and measure it. You may not be able to find the same model # for sale but even so you may find a suitable replacement with the same dimensions.

However you might want to consider simply turning off or disconnecting the speakers and using a sound bar instead. There is another option. Mount speaker terminals on the rear of the TV where the speakers are and run the wires to them, then you can use standard bookshelf speakers and have the TV audio circuit power them. I mean something like these: http://sell.lulusoso.com/selling-leads/689813/Speaker-Cable-Terminal-Copper-Binding-Post-Jack-32mm.html

On the other hand the rates you were quoted seem very reasonable if it is not under warranty. 6500 Rupee equals $107.38 USD, less than I would expect to have to pay to have it fixed in the US.
