OK so I jumped on the Opteron wagon and waiting for my 148 to arrive. While I was trying to save as much as possible and use whatever I have left from the past, I found these 2 sticks of PC2700 memory. The manufacturer is Crucial and CL is rated at 2.5. Upon close inspect I found the following print on the chips. (No heat spreader)

SAMSUNG 310
K4H560838D - TCB3

The rest of the components are as follow:

Opteron 148
DFI NF4 Ultra-D
GeForce 6200 TC 64MB
WD Caviar 1000JB
OCZ Powerstream 520W

Only thing that I've paid for this time around is the CPU and the motherboard (I will also need a case, haven't decided yet), so if this RAM is compatible with the board/CPU then I can get myself a VERY cheap Opteron setup. Of course the RAM performance won't be too exciting but I'd lilke to just to get by with what I have first. With the use of divider, I may still get decent OC if this RAM works for the board. Maybe I can get DDR400 speed with CL3?

Any insight on this RAM and any comment in general would be appreciated.

To find out about the TCB3 chipsGoogle is your friend.

As to their compatibility with the DFI board I have no idea, that board is famously picky about RAM though, chances are you'll just have to wait and see. Maybe if you can't get both sticks to run you may be able to get 1 stick to run while you wait for new RAM to come in.

I think the TCB3 should work fine on the board. Most of the pickiness AFAIK was with low quality RAM and certain enthusiast/overclocker's RAM. Samsung/Crucial/Infineon/etc basic PC3200 or less RAM should be fine.
