Samsung Syncmaster 955DF - anyone have it? Looking for a $450 19" mon. Thoughts?

I'm looking for a decent 19" monitor in the neighborhood of $450 or so. I read a review of this monitor yesterday, and the reviewer was very impressed. It has the "Dynaflat Tube" which supposedly has an additional layer of glass over the tube to prevent the "smushed-in look" that the center of Sony Flatscreens have.

Right now, I'm using the 17" monitor that came with my Dell. It's been pretty good to me, but it's time for a bigger monitor.

I'd never heard of Iiyama (sp?) before I became a memeber here. I know that those of you who have them are very impressed, but they are out of my price range right now.

Nothing beats that smashed in looks of the Sony, but for $100.00, the Samsung should be all you need. Plus Samsung always has had nice controls.

Samsung 900NF is available for around $450, plus there is a $30 rebate floating around for that very monitor. It has a superior picture to the 955DF (not that it's a shabby monitor), and from all the reviews I've read of it, it's the one to have if you're not ready to spend an arm and a leg on a Sony or Iiyama.

What' the diff beteween the 900 and the 955? It looks like they have the same specs?

You could spend a littttle more and get the Sony CPD-G400 for ~$500 shipped. I don't think anyone would argue against that!
But If your maximum is ~$450, You can get the Samsung 900NF from Gateway Accessory store for ~$410 shipped with $429 - $25 coupon.

The 900NF is the professional series from Samsung. It's a truly flat monitor and uses AG, while the 955DF is shadow mask but appears to be flat. Also the 900NF can do 1600x at 85Hz, and may have slightly better image quality, but one can argue againt that. I, myself, have a 955DF and it's a good monitor. But I would reccomend the 900NF in your price range!
