Samsung Syncmaster 27" flickers when I first turn it on

Brand new, just bought two days ago. When first turned on in the morning, it flickers for 10-12 seconds. Almost seems like a lamp is struggling to come on. After initial few seconds, works perfectly throughout the day. Problem only happens when it has sat off for 8-10 hours.

Any thoughts? Just take it back and get a replacement?

I've checked the video and power cables and video card.

I would replace it if you can before you end up with a problem down the road and have to pay to ship for an RMA.

If the second model performs similarly then perhaps it could be just a poor function of the monitor.

Yeah, if it's 2 days old, just return it to the store.

Does it use an LED or a fluorescent backlight?

It is an LED model. Yeah, I took your advice and exchanged it for another unit.

Thanks guys.

But the other unit does the exact same thing. Called Samsung tech support - they said they've not encountered any complaints on this issue. Hmm?

I had a 23" Samsung Syncmaster that had that problem, although it started like 3 years after I got it. It would flicker when I turned it on and the flicker period got longer and longer each time. After about a month it stopped working altogether.

Samsung has a history of bad capacitors in their LCDs so it may be related to that...

That really sucks. Otherwise this is a great monitor. The second one I got flickers for a good 10-15 seconds even if has been only left off for 2-3 hours. At this point, I may just return it again and buy a different brand.
