Samsung SSD dead ?

My SSD drive just died with zero warning. Is there anything I can do ?
So my laptop doesnt recognize a HD in it when i have it in, so I took it out and attached it as a slave drive to machine. It does recognize a drive and shows the drive size and free space but when I go to access it, it freezes the entire machine and I have to hold the power button to shut it down.
I've tried power cycling, where I attach the power cable to it for 30 mins, turn off power for 30 secs and then power again for 30 mins, but it didnt help.

I did a quick scan of this forum already and it kinda sounds like there isnt anything I can do, but I wanted to make sure. Is there anything else I can try ? Any help would be appreciated. Unfortunately, I did not do a backup for some time and am trying to recover some things.

It is a Samsung MMCQE28GMUP (I think thats the model #, it came with my Lenovo X200 laptop about 3 years ago, 128GB)
 
also generally if the drive is a pull from a laptop you may not be able to warranty it through the hdd maker as they are supposed to be supported by the laptop maker.

I have than is happen with drives I have pulled from hp's, seagate, wd's, hgts', when you do a warranty check it say to go to laptop vendor
 
You also may want to run Samsun'g Magician software diags a see if it can update the firmware. My 830 was acting a bit squirrely, so I did the above, and the latest firmware seems to have it back on track.
 
If it came as part of the Lenovo laptop I doubt he can upgrade it or do much with it with Magician, worth a shot though.
 
Thank you for the advice ... and sorry I didnt mention that I was trying more to salvage the data than the actual drive itself ... but I think trying to update the firmware may be my only hope here.

Also try hooking it up to a different SATA port or a second motherboard and reboot a few times. You'd be surprised how this can sometimes revive stubborn SSDs from the dead.

On my Samsung MMCRE 128gb, firmware flash wiped the drive and I had to re-load from the image.

If the data really matters to you, professional data recovery is my recommendation.
