Samsung SP2504C HDD Noise

Hi,

i got two these drives to go with my new pc i just built. I have set them up in raid 0, with 128k striping size. I bought these, because they where supposed to be very quiet, and had excelled performance in Raid 0 (faster than raptors). This is true, they do have excellent performance, however, since setting up my pc three days ago, i have found them to be the noisiest thing i my computer. The computer is very quiet (only slight whirring of air from 1m away), but these drives make a LOUD noise, especially when seeking.

Has anyone with these drives had the same problem. Is there a wear in time?

I even checked what motors i got, and both of the hard drives had a Nidec Motor. These are supposed to be the best ones to get with the SP250C.

cmon, doesnt anyone ELSE have thse drives :Q ? If anyone does, and if their drives are really quiet, chances are my ones need to be RMA'd, or maybe they just dont like raid. I Dunno, all i know that they're the loudest thing in my pc when they're seeking, and i cant even check if theres anything wrong with them because samsungs HUTIL doesnt seem to pick my drives up. Looks like it doesnt support SATA even though they list it as a download for the p120's.

Any help would be appreciated

There have been reports on SPCR of the new Samsung 250GB's being much noisier than their older counterparts. Check out the SPCR forums for more info. I don't own one so I can't help out.

put a 120 mm fan in front of your drives that push enough air

they might be overheating
