Hi everyone,

I hope you guys can really help me. Two days ago, I updated my wireless network adapter driver from the Intel website. When it asked if I wanted to shut and restart for the changes to take place, I clicked yes. Upon restarting, on the bottom of the screen appeared "attempting repairs" and seemed as if the laptop was loading fixing whatever it was needed fixing. It goes on for about 20 minutes like this.

the next screen that appears says that no repairs could be done and that a system repair needs to be done. I click yes but then my laptop just freezes and does nothing.

I've done hit f4 as some threads have suggested. When I do this system recovery starts but then freezes.

I don't have a backup usb and probably cannot get one since I am in the middle of the rainforest. All of my data and notes and thesis are in this laptop and i need a miracle. please help!

You need to list what kind of laptop you have, please list the specs as well as what os you are running.

EDIT: Also give us a step by step process on what happens during the normal boot process so we can see where exactly the freeze happens.

Have you tried safe mode (shift+F8)? I have heard this is very tricky with Windows 8 though.

Hmm, is there anyone near you/with you that has a desktop? I would probably take out the hard drive and back up your important data. The do a factory reset to get your ultrabook running again.

If those data are important you really need to find a way to get a bootable drive or somewhere to get those data from your disk before you attempt to restore your laptop to factory defaults.

Not to be off topic or a snob, but nourishes me that someone gets "data" is a plural noun.:D
