nice deal but faster drives cab be had for a few $ more i think this drive could be a little cheaper...

This drive's at an excellent price for its silent and cool operation, perfect for servers, and no one is going to notice any drop in speed vs, let's say, a WD with 16MB.

So if you want cheaper wait 3 years and then buy one.

I expect to see SATA drives in more demand soon, Time Warner appears to be FINALLY starting to rollout a DVR patch enabling the eSata port on the back for more storage than the shipped 160 GB (90 hrs SD, 20 hrs HD).

I thought it was Hitachi and almost said this deal was on fire, too. Seagate is good, but I think the Hitachi T7K250 is a better all around drive. Seagate has 5 years of warranty compared to 3 for Hitachi, though, so they're both great drives. All I know about the Samsung drive is that it doesn't perform like the Hitachi but it is even more silent.

well.. i had hitachi(ibm) too but they were very loud and slow. they might have been improved but i wouldnt get hitachi over samsung. I agree that seagate is good though.

seagate > samsung > western digital > maxtor > hitachi (just my personal preferrence)
